Steinway Full Upright #107684 (1902)
Our latest Steinway upright, this one features a stunning figured mahogany finish, with a rustic checking pattern in the lacquer, quite fitting for an instrument that is a stately 123 years young! We were able to save the original ivory keys, as well as the string and soundboard, which still sing and ring true. All of the moving parts have been replaced—we are. fan of the new composite Wessell Nickel & Gross hammer butts and damper levers, with Ronsen Weickert hammers. We stayed a little more true to tradition with wooden repetitions and new key-end dowels. We maintain a high standard and have a large list of tasks and new-part installations that we perform in an action rebuild and would be happy to send more details upon request.
The case on this piano is simply stunning for a non-refinished piano, and this will fit nicely in any home with an antique or older feel to it. Of course the piano sounds great to us as well; it’s a bit of a toss up as to its finest contribution, but we’ll go with the look of the sound. If that sounds good, please come have a look!
